Henderson Joins North Carolina Wrestling Coaching Staff
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. ? The University of North Carolina's wrestling program has welcomed Evan Henderson as an assistant coach, as announced by head coach Rob Koll. Henderson, a former standout wrestler for the Tar Heels from 2011 to 2016, returns to Chapel Hill after serving as an assistant coach at Lehigh University.
During his collegiate career, Henderson achieved 125 wins and earned All-America honors twice in 2013 and 2014 while competing at 141 pounds. He was also a two-time Atlantic Coast Conference champion, securing titles in 2013 and 2016.
On the international front, Henderson has represented the United States as a two-time National Team member and was a finalist at the 2022 World Team Trials. He also qualified for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials and placed six times at the U.S. Open.
Prior to his role at Lehigh, where he contributed to multiple All-America accolades and NCAA Championship successes, Henderson spent a season coaching at Campbell University. A graduate of UNC with a degree in interpersonal communication and organization, he resides in Chapel Hill with his wife, Carly, and their two daughters.
